Technology is ever-changing. It has helped us advance in sophisticated ways and yet it also seems to interfere with some of the most important elements of our lives. How then do we engage in responsible use of technology? How can we harness its power without losing the human element? We will engage in a critical examination of current literature, identifying contemporary concerns such as socioeconomic inequities, work-life balance issues, educational applications and detriments, generational divides, privacy policies and rights, safety applications and consequences, and possible impacts on development and medicine. Engagement in collaborative work, critical thinking, formal writing, quantitative reasoning, and oral presentation will be required.
