Topic Description:

A picture can be worth a thousand words – or a million pieces of data. In an age when there is mind-boggling amount of information available, visualizations help us find and tell important stories. How can we explore and visualize data in ways that will inform and enlighten, not mislead and obscure? How can visualizations and text be combined to broaden horizons, convey complex ideas, and make critical decisions? Drawing on contemporary and historical examples in the arts, humanities, social sciences, and sciences, we will study principles and tools of narrative visualization and use them to approach real issues in today’s world.
