Full Title: How Hungry are You? Food Politics Today

Topic Description:

How can food insecurity be resolved? How can we grow sufficient food sustainably? How can we change the today’s food culture? These questions are particularly relevant in the context of recent and ongoing food crises around the world and increased poverty in the U.S. Although food-related issues are on the agendas of public organizations and civil society groups locally, nationally, and globally, problems of food access, availability, sustainability, and quality persist. In this course, students will work in groups to (1) familiarize themselves with a specific food-related contemporary problem, (2) explore its political, socio-economic, scientific, and cultural dimensions, and (3) propose a solution. Each group’s solution will be written up as an official policy report and presented in a public defense.
