INQ-300 | Communicating the Liberal Arts

Full Title: Communicating the Liberal Arts

Topic Description:

You made the right choice. Polls show that employers want the kind of skills a liberal arts education provides to students. So how come the liberal arts get so much flack in the media? And how come students seem wary of general education requirements? And finally, can anything be done to change these attitudes? This course tackles this real-world problem head on, asking students to research all elements of this question—social, educational, cognitive—and develop in a team setting actual proposals for better communicating the value of the liberal arts to involved parties: parents, professors, politicians, and, most importantly, students and potential students. Students will leave the course being able to articulate to potential employers the value of their education at Roanoke College.
