Topic Description:

This course balances engagement with middle school students, professional reading, guest speaker interaction and course discussion. Often in EDUC courses offered during the academic year, students read about pedagogical strategies and student characteristics, but do not have an opportunity to explore them in authentic settings. Middle School Immersion invites students to actively engage with middle school students and to consider those interactions and experiences as they connect with or contradict theories presented in professional texts or shared by guest speakers.
