INQ-271 | Disability and Race

Full Title: Disability and Race

Topic Description:

How do aspects of race and (dis)ability play into the way that individuals are perceived in a society? How do these identity factors affect access to medical care, education, employment, housing, and vulnerability to police violence? This course will explore historical and present-day experiences of people with disabilities, and how race impacts the way these individuals are treated by others. Through their stories we will explore how variations in embodiment can lead to discrimination, but also provide diversity in knowledge. We will ask how societies can embrace these unique understandings to create rich and inclusive environments.
