Using a combination of lectures, readings, films, writing, projects, and discussions, this course explores the concepts of culture and society from a sociological perspective and teaches students how sociologists conduct their research. Through various aspects of social life, we will ask: What is the individual’s relationship to culture and society? How do we acquire our values, norms, laws, and ways of life? How do we form our individual and cultural identities? How do our interactions with others in groups and organizations affect our own sense of self?
