Full Title: Political Polarization and American Politics

Topic Description:

Is America truly as politically polarized as we are led to believe? Are we more polarized now than ever before? What are the political implications of being polarized if that is the case? This course explores questions like these and concentrates on explaining; (1) what leads us to believe we are or are not polarized; (2) the implications this has on individual-level behavior and the behavior of politicians; (3) how political divides affect our political system’s ability to function, and (4) the polarizing issue debates facing current politics in America.
