We die! People deal with that fact in many different fashions, and life ends in many different ways, but this class will examine how artists have dealt with it in their work. Does our knowledge about the fact that we too will die one day provide us with an opportunity to look at the inevitability of our own death in a dispassionate way? Does it offer us any insight into how to live a “good life?” and what have artists had to say about “matters of life and death?” We will look at this topic from the perspective of the fine arts.
