INQ-120 | Disability Ethics

Full Title: Disability Ethics

Topic Description:

How does a culture decide who has a “good” body, and what kinds of bodies need to be cured? When is a trait called disability, instead of one that helps a person adapt to their environment? How does the fact that all bodies are vulnerable to illness and injury affect how we think about disability and disabled people? How can individuals and communities find ways to embrace a wider range of body types? This course will ask all of these questions and more, exploring historical ideas around disability, and how they are reflected and rejected in contemporary culture and personal narratives by people with disabilities.
