Our attention often wanders: attention is often distracted by thoughts and emotions—this is natural. But training the mind to avoid being overwhelmed or hijacked by stressors can help with our quality of life in general. In this course we will learn about and practice meditation (the training of attention) and mindfulness (bringing one’s attention nonjudgmentally to the present-moment) by studying the origins of these practices in several Asian religious traditions.
