Full Title: Diversity and Inequality in STEM Fields

Topic Description:

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) skills are valuable, but how do we make sure that K-12 students from all socioeconomic levels have access to STEM? How can robotics programs inspire kids to dream bigger and achieve more? In this course, students will research the benefits of involving K-12 students in STEM-based projects, and will put this research into practice in community service in the Roanoke area by coaching and mentoring elementary school STEM/robotics teams. Students with all skill sets and intended majors are welcome. An enthusiasm for STEM and for working with kids is the only requirement. 2hr/wk service time and criminal background check required.
